In search of the best noodles in the market, I picked up almost 15 of the most commonly consumed noodles in India Maggi, Top Ramen, Ching’s, Yippee, Knorr, Maggi Hotheads, Chicken Noodles, Cup Noodles, Patanjali Atta Noodles, Maggi Atta Noodles, Maggi Oats Noodles, and Atta Noodles by Yippee. Based on their ingredients and nutritional information, I have categorized them into three categories.

Top 10 Noodles Brands In India

Category 1: Popular but Unhealthy Noodles

This category includes noodles by Maggi, Top Ramen, Ching’s, Yippee, Knorr, Maggi Hotheads, Chicken Noodles, and Cup Noodles. Sadly, these are the most widely consumed noodles by Indians. Why? Because these are made from 100% refined flour MAIDA, which is unhealthy.

The ingredient list of the most popular Maggi Masala noodles is full of codes and numbers denoting acidity regulators, thickeners, humectants, and flavor enhancers— But our bodies don’t need them.

Ching’s Schezwan Noodles Review

‘Ching’s Schezwan’ noodles contain chemical compounds like sodium hydrogen carbonate, disodium 5′-inosinate, silicon dioxide, and TBHQ. Sounds scary, doesn’t it? Some of these chemical compounds are also derived from petroleum.

Other noodle packets in this category are no different. All these noodle packets have more than half the daily recommended amount of sodium, with the taste maker being the main culprit. High sodium leads to increased blood pressure and body weight. You will be shocked to know that these tastemakers have only 20-30% spices; the rest are just fillers. And please don’t get carried away by the vegetables on their front label—they hardly have any.

If you prefer chicken noodles thinking you’d get extra protein, you should know that these noodles have only 5% chicken bits. The bottom line is this: you should avoid these noodles as much as possible because your body deserves better.

Category 2: Marketed as Healthy but Not Much Better

This category includes Patanjali Atta Noodles, Maggi Atta Noodles, Maggi Oats Noodles, and Atta Noodles by Yippee. These noodles are extensively marketed as healthy noodles. While Maggi claims their atta and oats noodles to be a balanced kickstart for the day, Patanjali says “Jhatpat Banno Befikr Khao”. No doubt these noodles can be jhatpata, but can we eat them regularly? Let’s find out.

  • First of all, Maggi has wrongly named this packet as Oats Noodles, as it has only 39.1% a small percentage of oat flour—not even 50%. The rest is maida (refined flour).
  • The packet of Maggi Atta Noodles mentions that it has the fiber of three rotis, but in reality, it has only 4.5 grams of fiber. Even a small 7-inch whole wheat roti has 3 grams of fiber.
  • The dietary fiber in Patanjali noodles is even less.
  • Moreover, the percentage of whole wheat flour and refined flour in it is not mentioned.
  • Another interesting observation is that Yippee Atta Noodles have 44% atta,
  • and Maggi Atta Noodles have 78% atta.

Is Yippee Atta Noodles Good For Health?

However, the fiber content of Yippee Atta Noodles is much more than that of Maggi Atta Noodles. What’s wrong with Maggi? Are they really using whole wheat flour? We can’t say. Apart from this, these so-called healthy noodle packets are also equally high in sodium and have added acidity regulators, thickeners, humectants, flavor enhancers, and colors. So, we have seen that the noodles in both these categories are equally bad. It’s just the marketing strategy that makes one look better than the other.
